Cool, showery spring to continue through Mother's Day weekend
The trickle-down effect of this cool, showery spring has impacted even the traffic lines along Snoqualmie Pass.
New lanes need to be drawn since continuous rain the past several weeks washed away the stripes along I-90. But the major mountain pass requires dry conditions and temperatures over 50 degrees for the paint to stick, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
A new paint date will be announced soon, weather permitting. More cool, damp weather through next week will further halt the project. Not until late next weekend do weather conditions look more conducive for WSDOT crews.
Thursday is definitely not a good day for outdoor painting. Widespread rain will last through much of the day, with gusty south winds topping 30 mph over the inland waters. Temperatures tumble 10 degrees below normal this afternoon and stay there through Mother's Day weekend with several more cool storms ahead.
