PUD fast-charging EV stations in Everett ready for drivers
EVERETT The first public fast electric vehicle chargers in north Everett are ready for drivers.
The Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) installed them in late May and has been testing them since. Located in front of the districts headquarters at 2320 California St. in Everett, the two ChargePoint stations can charge most electric vehicles in 30 minutes to one hour. They are CCS and CHAdeMO compatible and have a capacity of 62.5 kilowatts.
A $154,000 grant from the state Department of Ecologys portion of the Volkswagen emissions cheating settlement helped pay for it. The grant was for electric vehicle charging along high-traffic transportation corridors. The PUD site is near Interstate 5, U.S. 2 and downtown.
About 95% of energy from the PUD is carbon-free, with most of it from hydroelectric dams and wind.
