Officials working to clean up diesel fuel spill at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor

Officials at Naval Base Kitsap had to put a stop to a fuel spill early Friday morning.

Crews say they found diesel fuel spilling from a damaged pipe on a pier at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor around 9:30 a.m.

A release later said 94 gallons reportedly spilled but the leak was quickly stopped. Crews are now working to clean it up, there was 20 gallons remaining in the water as of 3 p.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound and the Washington State Department of Ecology have been made aware of what happened.
