Boeing and Machinists enter second day of talks

Let's hope management offers something other than "give up your pension".

Boeing and Machinists leaders are meeting again Wednesday, following a several-hour conversation the previous day.

The Wednesday meeting is to be more substantive than Tuesday's discussion, which marked the first face-to-face between the company and union in nearly a month.

“The goal of today’s meeting is to see what the two sides can do to secure Puget Sound as the site for 777X fabrication and final assembly,” said union District 751 President Tom Wroblewski, in an announcement on the district website.

“Our membership wants to build this airplane and we believe Boeing wants to do it here,” he said.

Talks between Boeing and the Machinists union are a hopeful sign for landing the Boeing 777X for Washington state, said Alex Pietsch, director of the governor’s aerospace office.
