Where to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Snohomish County in 2026

EVERETT — Starting Sunday, organizations will hold free events to honor Martin Luther King Jr. for the federal holiday, which lands on Monday.

Here is a list of those events.

Sunday Celebration, Everett

The Greater Everett Area Community Celebration has been held each year in Everett for more than 30 years. The two-day event, put on by the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee, will be held under the theme “Building Community: The Dream & The Work.” The Sunday event will take place 4-6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett. Dr. Yvonne Terrell-Powell, vice president of equity, inclusion and belonging at Edmonds College, will speak and the Greater Everett MLK Celebration Choir will perform. Winners of the Prodigies for Peace Writing and Art Contest will be featured.

Day of Service, Marysville

Marysville is inviting residents to take a “day on, not a day off,” on Monday. Three organizations in the city are offering ways for volunteers to give back.
