Seattle is the fifth-most-painful U.S. city for drivers in new parking study

Seattle drivers spend 58 hours per year looking for parking, compared to the nationwide average of 17 hours.

That's according to a recent study released by Kirkland-based transportation analytic company Inrix, which ranked Seattle among the five worst cities for time spent searching for a spot, parking overpayments (to avoid a ticket for an expired meter) and parking fines.

Seattle was measured as the fifth-most-painful city for parking, after New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

Following Seattle was Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas and Detroit.
