Mayor-elect Jenny Durkan taps government, housing and transit vets for transition team
Seattle mayor-elect Jenny Durkan chose former King County Executive Ron Sims and two nonprofit leaders to lead her transition team.
Durkan, the former U.S. attorney who defeated Cary Moon Tuesday, has less time than usual to prepare to take office at City Hall.
She will take her oath of office after election results are certified Nov. 28.
The new mayor typically takes office Jan. 1, replacing the outgoing elected mayor. But Mayor Tim Burgess was appointed interim mayor earlier this fall to fill the remainder of Ed Murray's term after his resignation.
Joining Sims on Durkan's transition team are Paul Lambros, executive director of Plymouth Housing Group, and Shefali Ranganathan, executive director of Transportation Choices, the Seattle Times reported.
After serving as county executive, Sims worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
