Trump nominates Seattle lawyer to be U.S. attorney for Western Washington
Donald Trump nominated former Washington state Chief Deputy Attorney General Brian Moran to serve as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington.
He'll have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate before he can start the job.
Moran is of counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and served as chief deputy attorney general from 2006 to 2013 under former Attorney General Rob McKenna, who is a partner at Orrick.
Moran's biography on Orrick's website described the position as the "top legal adviser to the attorney general" and said Moran managed 27 legal divisions, the Solicitor Generals Office, the Deputy Attorneys General, Division Chiefs and more than 500 other assistant attorneys general.
Before he became chief deputy, the biography said Moran served as chief criminal prosecutor in the attorney general's office and senior deputy prosecutor for the Office of the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney.
