Issaquah High School closed Thursday after possible measles exposure
Issaquah High School was closed Thursday so staff members' immunization statuses could be confirmed after a person who was infected with measles spent multiple days at the school while contagious.
In a letter sent home to parents by Seattle & King County Public Health, officials said the infected patient was at the campus between May 6 and 9. The person was not yet aware they had the measles when they visited the campus.
Because of the exposure to the campus, Public Health is requiring anyone without documented immunity to remain off campus until at least May 30, or 21 days after the last known possible exposure, though the exclusion period may be extended if another measles case occurs at the school before that date.
AP tests will still be offered at the campus Thursday as scheduled and will be proctored by teachers and administrators who have already given proof of immunization.
