WV: Billboard Campaign Calls On Manchin to Lower Drug Prices by Voting for Build Back Better Act

'West Virginia Billboard Campaign Calls on Sen. Manchin to Lower Drug Prices by Voting for the Build Back Better Act.' Dec. 6, 2021. SocialSecurityWorks.org.

(Washington, DC) — Today, Social Security Works launched a mobile billboard campaign calling on Senator Joe Manchin to keep his promise to lower drug prices by immediately voting for the Build Back Better Act.

The billboards will spend the next 2 weeks visiting municipal buildings, senior centers, and nursing homes throughout West Virginia, including Morgantown, Charleston, Wheeling, Martinsburg, Clarksburg, Parkersburg, and Huntington. Republican, Democratic, and independent voters all overwhelmingly support Build Back Better’s drug pricing provisions.

“Right now, 85% of West Virginians think that prescription drugs are unreasonably expensive. Joe Manchin can take on pharma greed right now with a simple vote,” said Troy Miller, West Virginia Organizer at Social Security Works.

“Manchin needs to listen to the overwhelming majority of West Virginians who are demanding lower drug prices and he needs to vote for Build Back Better immediately.” ~

indicates his constituents WANT what was in the original BBB.

Manchin is LYING about pausing the BBB until '22. He flat-out doesn't want it, but admitting that would not be good optics for him with his constituents, so he's pretending he just wants to delay it.

Biden needs to fight fire with fire and say he's not releasing any infrastructure funds for WV from the BIF until the BBB is enacted.

'EpiPen' daughter whose pharma company inflated the cost of life-saving medicine for people w allergies/asthma several years ago ('Pharma Bro' story). Her mom, Mrs. Joe helped market it to the WV school systems. A revolting bunch, and there's more to it probably.

M. has power and there's a long history of corruption but I don't know how he hasn't been tossed. Jay Rockefeller- D served the state much better as SoS, Governor and US Senator, 1970s- 2015.

There are still active, D people as well as known ignorant types. Many residents, esp. elders have health conditions- respiratory, diabetes, cancer, etc. and given the widespread lack of financial resources, they would really benefit from lower drug costs and decent health care like in other places.

The SSW's billboard effort is a good one, we'll see how it goes. Staffer Troy Miller who's mentioned is bright and active like others, just not seen in the media enough unfortunately.
