Secretary of State: Weekend voters push WV early voting totals to 8% more than 2022 primary election
A total of 67,356 West Virginia voters cast their primary election ballots during early voting this year, 8% more than did during the 2022 primary, according to the office of Secretary of State Kris Warner.
As of Thursday, 48,233 ballots had been cast. On Friday and Saturday the last two days of early voting before Tuesdays primary election a surge of 19,123 West Virginia voters cast their ballots, according to Warners office.
According to the Secretary of States preliminary data, 24,767 West Virginia residents so far have voted in the Democratic primary, 32,539 have voted in the Republican primary, and 7,710 voted on the independent ballot.
Early voting started April 29 and ended Saturday. Warner said county clerks all over the state reported an increase in early voters on Friday and Saturday.
