The progressive takeover of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is for real
Rowan Viva, who is apparently not running for Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) this time around (her last attempt at doing so resulted in her not even making the convention ballot), is now organizing an effort to get progressives to register as DPW members in order to get slots as delegates to the upcoming DPW convention next year in Milwaukee:
**CALL TO ACTION FOR FIGHTIN WISCONSINITES!**
Please sign up *now* if you may be willing to serve as a delegate at the Democratic Party of WI state convention next June to vote in new leadership and create a grassroots-driven party that will fight for us . . . and win!
You do *not* currently need to be a party member, but you will need to join before the convention.
It only takes one Saturday, and it may be the most important thing you do for our state in the coming year...........................

(46,758 posts)except the soi-disant Liberals in Central Florida, who have a high profile, aren't exactly the kind of Liberals you would find on DU. I think they're more neo-liberal.

(19,537 posts)So that we can send messages to Obama on what stances we support and what we don't support that he ultimately need to reflect in signing or vetoing legislation on in the next two years. Having a grass roots revolution in people signing up as PCPs, etc. everywhere to get more progressive membership would help us a lot in this effort too.
For starters, we need to take strong strong stances through resolutions that will be stronger than just petitions as they will reflect directly what the base of his party wants:
1) Rejecting the TPP that Obama is making it sound like he might help pass quickly.
2) Say NO to Keystone oil pipleine.
3) Support Obama's recently stated comments on net neutrality, and recommend that perhaps he has the justice department investigate Wheeler's industry ties, that may betray his claims of "independence" that he makes publicly recently against Obama's influence, and that perhaps he made claims of from anyone (including industrial influence) when he took the FCC chair position appointment.
Hopefully with votes directly by party constituency, that hopefully you can make reflect more the broad constituency of real voters out there through your efforts in areas like Wisconsin, we'll help Obama do the right things (or left things! ) over the next two years!
NOW is the time to join people! Tomorrow morning at this time we are voting on new leadership where I am. I'm sure many others are doing the same thing. Show your numbers where you can, so that even if you can't vote immediately if you can't be immediately be made PCP members by local rules, you can show where people's opinions are.
