Evers digs at rivals on Foxconn as Dems make opposing it badge of honor
MADISON - In the Democratic gubernatorial primary, opposition to Gov. Scott Walker's $3 billion jobs deal with Foxconn Technology Group is now a badge of honor.
But state schools Superintendent Tony Evers says voters should be wary of Democrats who didn't criticize the deal "from day one."
The comments are a clear dig at rivals like Rep. Dana Wachs (D-Eau Claire) and Milwaukee businessman Andy Gronik, who strongly oppose the deal now but gave some positive statements when it was first announced in late July.
"While some were excited by the deal, I could smell something rotten ... Decisions like this, especially with a $3 billion price tag footed by Wisconsin taxpayers, should be made based on the facts and the will of the people not hedging bets or kowtowing to changing political winds," Evers said in a statement.
