(17,288 posts)Thinking of you and your family as you celebrate his life and contributions. Losing a beloved parent is so difficult. I lost my mom a few years ago. Time helps, but I think we will always feel the pain of our loss.

(7,715 posts)I lost my dad a few years ago,and my mother several years before that. It doesn't matter what age you are - the passing away of a parent is something that slams you in the gut. It's the end of an era.
But it's not the end; rather, it is the start of the way that your dad's memory will live on forever, hopefully through you and your family
Peace, love, and take care.

(23,975 posts)...ever quite ready for that final goodbye to our parents - the ones who loved us before they even met us. I sounds like you had a good dad.
Wishing you people to lean on as you adjust to this change.

(205,320 posts)I absolutely love otters! They are just impossibly adorable!
I hope that you're feeling okay. After everything is over, that's when it starts to sink in. I should have taken more time off from work, but I needed to keep busy and I wonder now if that was the best decision. Sounds like you have more family than I do, though. Most of mine live in other states. But you also know that DU is always here 24/7 if you ever need us.

(28,120 posts)So sorry you've lost him. He and your mom raised a great daughter too. Sending my sympathy and hugs.
My mom is 92 and is deep within the grasp of dementia. It feels as if we've already lost her.
