Casting a provisional ballot? The clock starts the moment you leave the polls

CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming voters who can’t prove their eligibility at the polls won’t be turned away. Instead, they’ll be handed a provisional ballot.

However, casting one is not the same as having your vote counted. Under state law, the responsibility shifts to the voter, and the window to act closes fast.

Natrona County Clerk Tracy Good said that the most common reason a provisional ballot goes uncounted is people do not come back to prove their eligibility.

“And, no, we do not reach out to them,” Good said. “They are told at the time the provisional is issued what the deadline date and time is.”
