Stephen Harper goes over the top in Israel: Mallick

“He touched my hand!!” a woman yelled out in delight as Stephen Harper toured the Western Wall, or, I assume, the part of the wall where women are welcome. The female journalists’ view was not as good as that of the men covering Harper, reported Lee-Anne Goodman of Canadian Press who, as a Canadian journalist, was presumably in a distant enclosure anyway.

I became very excited. “Ask someone to touch his hair!” I tweeted desperately. “Does it feel cakelike?”

I’ve never been in the same room as Harper and I’m sure he wouldn’t want me there. I often think that politicians go on foreign trips to get away from voters; it was part of the reason Nixon went to China in 1972 as Watergate unrolled like a tapeworm.

In Canada we don’t kiss Harper’s hem. In Israel the government is pleased to see him, if bewildered by his huge weird entourage of 208 — including Harper’s fellow evangelical Christians, businessmen and Ezra Levant’s dad Marvin — some of whom managed the trip at taxpayer expense. Was this Harper saying, “See? I’ve got friends. You think I don’t have friends. But I’ve got friends.”

a Palestinian state, a separate state, at the same time, no? If you approve of Israel's settlements, you can't also approve of a separate Palestinian state in the same area.

He's not helping Israel or the cause of peace. He's a lightweight. He may get a few votes at home, but very few.

Cutting Kerry and Obama off at the knees. Maybe getting even for Keystone? Beside the wedge issue at home.

Would be nice if it was found out that Ford and Steve were on crack while fishing!

Either you're with us, or you're with the terrorists. (GWB)

Either you're with us, or you're with the child pornographers. (Vic Toews)

Either you support Israel unconditionally, or you're an anti-Semite. (Harper)

I don't know, but I fear for our Olympic team now more than ever.

Stupid, stupid, stupid narcissistic man.

If he had an ounce of intelligence, he would have waited after the Olympics before going on this Provocation tour.

Like in March, or April. But no. If anything bad ever happens to our athletes, we will know who to blame first.
