Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington told CP24 Wednesday that Ford told him he will take a 30-day break.

Warmington said the Sun obtained an audio recording of Ford saying “some very offensive things” at a bar on Monday night and asked the mayor about it. When Ford called back, he said he didn’t remember making the comments, but would take a break to get help, Warmington said.

Ford’s stunning announcement comes more than five months after he admitted to smoking crack cocaine. Ford told reporters last November that he smoked crack “in one of my drunken stupors.”

Since the admission, Ford’s critics – and some of his allies – have been urging him to get help.
