support for the pipeline, opposition to Kyoto, etc., is just naked financial greed for the country at large, at the expense of any concern about the environment, damage to Canada's reputation, etc.

The other 1/2 is being a pawn of the oil companies.

What's been attracting my attention lately is how, if a Rip Van Winkle character were coming back to Canada today after a 10 year snooze, they could avoid concluding that the Government of Canada had basically been take over by the Texas-based oil industry that originally owned only Alberta.

Our foreign policy, our environmental policy, our economic policies, and our social policies are becoming pretty well what Exxon would demand of any national government that they owned.

And meanwhile, the 6 in 10 of us who don't support Harper continue squabbling over which of the non-Harper parties we should split our votes among so as to ensure another CPC "victory" at the polls.

Yeah, I'm bitter about Canada and Canadians right now.
