10 years ago today over a million of us marched against the planned invasion of Iraq in London. Who else here besides myself took part in that?
I'm glad I did. The Iraq war was a colossal mistake on the part of US & UK governments and the politicans really should have payed a lot more attention to the many people who could see that it was going to be a mistake.

Some positions I take: I have qualms of uneasiness about.
Not that one.

The main reason I was opposed was that it had nothing to do with the war on Al Qaida. I could see it was a mistake. However, it actually turned out worse then I thought it would.

Ok... back on topic:
Nothing to do w. al qaeda and everything to do w. international elite rw foreign policy consensus established pre-9/11 ( the Towers were their Reichstag Fire. No, like the Nazis they didn't *set* it but they USED it).
The populace... mind soaked in pop culture and infotainment "news"... was easy to stampede ( in the USA, not so much in the UK, from what I read and heard.). The behavior of US "news" media in hyping the war was *criminal*.... and the worst thing about it is that they have not been made to answer for it and if the same circumstances arise.... guess what? ... they'll do it AGAIN!
I lived thru the VN era and learned what should have been learned from that 10 year, agonizing , slow-motion holocaust. So it was clear to me what was happening. Not so clear, I suspect, to many of the next generation. VN had been rehabbed in the media and school texts. Sanitized. Revised. God bless America. "The fifties are here again.
Not so fast. They forget: some of us *lived* thru that era. We KNOW what happened.
