as to whether I've been to a Bop Local night - I'm strictly swing music and jazz for dancing and old time American traditional for listening.

The venue in your link isn't a large one. For the modern equivalent to links from that DJ on Youtube , most of which seem to be 1989 , those with such interests are more likely to go to a Ceroc / Modern Jive venue if they want to dance.

the Hacienda and all.

When I think of the environment today..I picture walking through the venue entrance and being handed
samples of cola, body spray and coupons for e-cigarettes.

I read somewhere that the youth of the later 1970's~early 1980's were the last to experience a
counter culture experience.

Thought maybe these Bop Local nights were a chance to relive some of that dynamic.

1989? Probably have my time-line off a bit..
