Best ISP for Wordpress.org blog?

I've been using Meccahosting for several years, and like them a lot -- excellent and friendly customer service (email turnaround in a couple of hours, generally); extremely reliable; affordable; good features; great security; and they don't run sexist Super Bowl ads.

The only hesitations I have are that their site maintenance tools are limited and kind of simple and crude (although they do offer a paid "Site Builder" option), and some functions have been a bit hard to set up -- although Meccahosting has always been helpful when I ask them for assistance. As a WordPress user, these things don't pose much of a problem for me -- I'm using either an FTP client or the WordPress admin screens most of the time, so I very seldom need to use the Meccahosting maintenance tools.

I'm just curious what ISPs people are using for their blogs, domains, email, etc. and what you think of your them. Also -- I'd like to know which ISPs are known to have right-wing ties, which (if any) are allied with progressive causes, which have favorable employment practices, etc. That's the sort of thing you don't find out from site reviews (many of which are obviously faked by either the ISP's staff or hired hands, or by their competitors).

Unlimited space, bandwidth, email, autoblogging -- and your space is ready for moving in within half an a hour. Am not looking forward to maxing out the SQL databases.

It works well for me. Much much better than godaddy.

They have cpanel as the control panel to control your settings and files.

I usually use FTP and/or SSH instead of the cpanel and it works fine.

The support is decent but if you have in depth questions about Wordpress they don't support the application much.

Their support staff is based in the US and you can talk to a person 24-hours a day if you need to.

Though hostgator is my first, they've been groovy with the support and plenty of user friendly tools.

sometimes it's a bit slow, but it's a good deal for what I pay (around 4.99 a month for my current contract).

Can I run any questions I have past you?

They bought out my previous host, but I'm very impressed with their stability, and speed, which are what's most important to me, although the few times I've had to contact tech support they've been very responsive. They're also very quick to quash spammers and hacked sites, and take a zero-tolerance policy to such nonsense. Their hosting accounts include CPanel with Softaculous which will allow you to do single-click installs of most popular software, including WordPress.

They're currently running a special for $3.71/mo. for 10GB storage, 50GB bandwidth. http://www.eleven2.com

I JUST signed up for a year with Bluehost for one blog yesterday (before seeing your post). If I create or move another domain I'll definitely consider Eleven2. Thanks!

I'm currently trying out Bluehost and will report my findings here.

Ideally my host would have a good combination of ease-of-use and stability. Cost is somewhat important, but obviously inexpensive technology can be a problem when the host has a pricing model that a) encourages everybody and his brother to sign up, and b) simultaneously cripples their ability to provide good security, performance, and customer service.

I'm hoping Bluehost is a good fit, but I may try out some of the other suggestions folks have posted as well.

I have a great deal of control over my space.$75 a year for my 1 GB domain, which he automatically renews every year. I have six blogs on my site, and all are doing pretty well.

I decided to go with Bluehost -- slightly more expensive at $84 a year, but I've been happy with them so far.
