Verizon Extortion and A Glimpse into the Future

My online services have failed for a week. Verizon confirmed that my modem died. They sent a new one.

I installed it and online services were slower than dial-up. I'm talking about counting 10, 20, 30, 40, 60 seconds.

I called back and told Verizon to fix it. While the tech guy was pretty terrific, all he could ultimately offer me was this:

1 ) My DSL was slow and could be upgraded.
2) Pay more money for the same thing I had last week.
3) Pay more money for faster speed DSL or go FIOS

While on the phone with the tech guy, I lost online services altogether.

I'm already stressed out for more than a week without internet. Plus, I need it for my business as well as hanging with you guys.

Two things:

1) If we lose net neutrality, all of us will have long waiting times for sites like this to download, even between posts. It is NOT good.
2) Verizon is practicing a form of extortion. I had no choice but to buy another modem from them (presuming I want to continue with them) and that's not enough money. Now my online "privileges" are being held hostage unless I get another service that I didn't need last week.

I'm going to the highest supervisor and complain about this unethical position and I'm going to the state's consumer affairs.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
