Is there a DVD player that can play divx files from a USB port?

I have seen a number of DVD players online. Some with USB ports that list the ability to play mp3s and video one of the formats listed is Divx HD. Is that the same as what is typically available for download from various sites. I know there are many different types of formats for computers that require different codecs. I'd like DVD player that can handle the most common one to a avoid having convert and burn DVDs. I could just use a laptop to connect, but I need a new DVD player anyway. Does anyone here have experience or with what I am looking for?

I was looking for the same thing. I bought a dvd w/usb from Radio Shack but it didn't even light up. I took it back and continued my search. I found this on sale instead:

It is similar to a Roku but has more features. It allows me to download video files and stream them to my tv. I bought this new and picked up a used dvd at a flea market. The SMP-n100 is no longer available new but they have the SMP-N200. They are great, you can watch Netflix, Amazon and Hulu + many other channels

You won't be able to connect the laptop to the dvd via usb like you wish. The files would have to be transferred via a flash drive. The only way to do what you want is to find dvd with a network port or use the method described above if you get a netbox and your laptop is DLNA compliant.

I was actually talking about connecting the laptop via HDMI directly to the tv, but I didn't know about those netboxes. One of those would be more convenient.

It's a great wireless blu-ray player that not only hooks up to the internet so you can use Hulu/Netflix/Amazon Prime and all the other free video channels (there's a lot of them on there) but also connects to my laptop running win 7 with no set up at all, I was shocked to see it listed on the menu. It's down to $80 right now. I love it! If your wireless is weak it does have an ethernet port you can use a cable and if you don't have ethernet there you can use this:

It also has a usb port in the back. I haven't needed it so I haven't tried it out but I'm sure it will work fine if you need it since it streams all those files from my laptop with no issue.
