Using/getting rid of dated computer equipment

I have a bunch of older computer equipment- an ancient 2001 Gateway Desktop sans Hard Drive and a 2005 Gateway Notebook that I have absolutely no use for, as well as an HP All-In-One Printer that I got in 2007. What can I do with them? They are cluttering up the home and I'd like to think that they might be useful for something but what? I would maybe try to remove the components and use them elsewhere but none of those old components probably would work in our newer (but aging) systems. I would sell them but nobody would likely give me any money for them, would they? Where does ancient computer equipment go to die? Suggestion?

There's bound to be at least one business in your area that refurbishes and resells old PCs.

If I were you're neighbor, I'd say drop them off at my house. I have some pretty old Macs & PCs still in running condition, and some needing parts.

ETA: I've never paid to recycle anything. I did trade an old 486 PC for a Pentium 4, but that was kind of unusual.

raw materials.

What city/state are you in ?

If you want to know what they might be worth do what everyone else does and check ebay for last sale prices.

They were getting too much of it and couldn't handle it.

where old computers, TVs, and anything else electronic goes to die. Just throw it on the pile and it gets carted away-- probably ending up in some third world country where they poison the beach melting gold and platinum out of the chips and connectors.

Maybe you've got something like that around you.
