Windows Updates failed today. Did a search, and I am not the only one

First time I ever had a problem.

There were 15 for Windows 7. I promptly downloaded them, they downloaded, said to restart computer. It hung at 30% forever. I shut down, restarted. The main culprit seems to be KB2952664

http://www.infoworld.com/article/2833825/microsoft-windows/windows-7-patch-kb-2952664-fails-with-error-80242016.html

I saw other people were unable to install them successfully.

I just checked Update again, and now it says there are only 11. That particular one is still part of the download.

I think I will leave it alone until I hear more about it.

None of the others.

I suspect it corrupted a system file because my Trojan Remover trusty program did a fast scan and said that a C:Windows\System32\rpcss.dll had failed signature checking and should replace or do restore. That program runs a fast scan when I turn on the computer, so I know it was not that way before.

I am thinking either uninstall those 2 updates or do a system restore...which I have not had to do in years.

I see there are 18 updates for me. I'll let you know if they install ok or if there is a possible problem with a different update on the current list.

This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows.

Since I have absolutely no intention of upgrading to Win 8 or 10, I chose to hide the update. Problem averted.
