My laptop w Windows 7 is operating very slow.
I am on Wifi and wonder if it might be my router. Is there a way to test a router? I have tried rebooting with limited success.
Are there good, free softwares that might help? Like slimcleanerplus?
I have Norton and have run their scans and tools to no avail. I also have run malewarebytes to no avail.

(41,694 posts)Microsoft Security Essentials works and is free. It's one of the few things they've done that actually works right.
And that is a slow internet connection speed.

(55,981 posts)What do you recommend for correcting my d/l speed? I am a novice.

(41,694 posts)If you have and it didn't improve the speed, I'd be calling your ISP and raising hell.

(41,694 posts)Could be your laptop needs a major cleanout and tuneup. Try connecting the laptop with the ethernet cable and see what you get. Have someone come by with a different laptop and see what it does.

This assumes the issue is O/S related.
