Smartphone questions.

My current cell is an old Samsung flip I bought in 2008. I'm new to the world of smartphones & I have some questions.

1. I was considering the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but on Amazon I read that you cannot "access Internet or data & talk on the phone at the same time." Then, someone else mentioned it was only on the Sprint network that this is a problem. Does this mean if I'm on the phone & cannot look up a contact?

2. Who's the best service provider in your opinion. I'm with Sprint because at one point they said they wouldn't spy on their customers, but I think we are well past that now, with all of them. ??? I'm leaning toward ATT, Verizon or TMobile. Input?

3. Lastly, is it better to buy the phone direct from the mfg or the provider. I want to go contract free & I'm fine with paying the full price up front.

Thanks for your input.

Verizon had the best service when I bought it years ago, now not so cheap. AT&T and Verizon have the widest network if you go to isolated areas which I used to do. I am considering using Freedom pop which piggybacks on Sprint.

With my 3, I can open multiple windows and talk on speaker phone while surfing. But it is not easy, ha ha . I am not the best manipulator of these things, just because it is possible does not mean I do it. I barely use any features. So not the best to answer.
