Seagate and/or Microsoft OneDrive backup frustrations

We got a new laptop, Windows 10 already installed.

Issue 1: We bought a Seagate backup HD. I'm having a lot of trouble figuring how to use it, can't seem to get a panel, window, anything to click on to get the back up going. I went to Seagate website, and it looks like I need to download a dashboard. The download only goes up to Win 7 for compatibility. Upon researching, many people are saying it isn't compatible with Win 10 as of yet.

Issue 2: So, in my quest to get a back up of the system, I turned to the Microsoft OneDrive. I have to sign in, none of my email email accounts seem to work or get me in, so I take their offer to create a new email/account. I filled out all the info and there is no "next" option, no button or anything to click on to enter the info entered.

There's more, many more hoops I've jumped through and time wasted trying to access emails, other things too stupid and pointless to explain that have led me nowhere. It's really complicated and ridiculous the maze these things take you through....

A USB drive is a USB drive, shouldn't be anything unusual or special about it.

Plug in your drive to a USB port

Open Control Panel

Click on File History

Click on System Image Backup

Click on Set up Backup

Select the drive to store your backup

Click Next

Click on Let Me Choose

Click Next

Uncheck Data Files

Check C:\ Drive

Click Next

Check your settings to make sure it includes C: drive and system image

Click on Save settings and run backup

That should do it. The system image takes about 1/2 to 1 hour

Create a recovery drive

in the action center settings, search for recovery drive

click on it and follow the instructions

That's for use when you can't boot your system
