Is this real or phishing, cannot find answer.

Every day I get this message daily via my Hotmail account:

Data stolen from account
BSOD: dllregisterSetting has.....

I cannot read the rest without opening the email.
I went to "message source and it is all numbers, makes no sense to me.
Do you think this is some kind of a scam?

I also get a message from Craigslist every day telling me I have replies. Have not posted anything. I'm always afraid to open these things .
For some reason my "junk mail has increased to at least 3X what it was about a month ago. Something is going in. I block the FB stuff but the FB notice and the Craigslist keep coming back.

1. Why don't you write to facebook support and ask them if they are sending you a message?

There is a "contact" link from the fb page, I believe.

It sounds like phishing to me but what do I know...? Hope someone else chimes in to help--this post will kick your thread.

I always thought BSOD meant BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, so I wouldn't click on that shit!

The bottom line of all that, is that it's a UK company and Facebook is an AMERICAN company, so huge red flag there already. Facebook would do its own support, I'm convinced. ETA: I went to fbsupport.com and it's a parked domain, meaning that its only purpose is to serve ads and links. Another giant red flag.

They also would send you a very official looking email with the Facebook emblem and some kind of verified information. They wouldn't send you any technical mumbojumbo, just a simple "there's a security problem we may have noticed" or something about your account not working properly and to contact the official support channel at facebook.com itself.

I wonder why Hotmail will not block the notices I get? Several times todat. I just looked again and there are two more.
I'll block them again and hope they will give up.

5. Run your mouse over the link -- don't click

And see what the address is (at the lower left of your browser window).
If it doesn't have something you might consider as related to Facebook -- then it is Phishing (and the message is foreshadowing of what will happen if you do click).
