I am having Wordpad trouble

I want to know how to get rid of or disable word pad from being the default for my computer. I use open source for writing and every time I open or try to start something, word pad shows up. How do I change it from default, oh tech geniuses? Thanks.

or... there is another section that specifies which program to use for each file, i.e, TXT files use Notepad for example.

Good luck.

click on Default Programs
then choose: Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program

you'll get a list of all file types and the program associated with each which you can then change individually.
