Android w/HDMI?
I'm looking for an Android device with specs similar to a Nexus 7 (could be larger) but with a HDMI port. Any suggestions?

(11,093 posts)Well, what I want do it screen recordings (with audio) of whatever's on my Android Tablet. I have a Nexus 7 but there's no HDMI port, and the one screen capture program I've found has crap for frame rate and no audio anyway.
Would WiDI do this for me? I don't care the mechanism, I just want an Android 4.2 on a decent performance platform that I can record a video of the screen (or app) in action.
p.s.: I wrote the app in question, so I could insert hooks if I need to.

(7,309 posts)If you want to project any image onto another screen, such as TV to use as a monitor, you have to make sure both devices have Intel WiDi.
However, if you're tablet has a USB port, you can always find a USB to HDMI adapter.
I hope I was able to help a little bit.

(11,093 posts)But to summarize my situation:
1) I have an Google Nexus 7 running Android
2) I'm a software engineer and have written a classic arcade-style game that runs on the Nexus 7/Android
3) I would like to record the gameplay for promotional purposes
4) The Nexus 7 has no HDMI output, so the best I can do is set the tablet up and aim a camera at it. This sucks on many levels.
5) I'd be willing to buy a tablet that runs Android 4.2, is at least 7 inches, and has an HDMI output so I can capture the screen activity.
That's what I'm trying to do.

(7,309 posts)It's not a tablet, but a phone. I think it runs Ice Cream Sandwich or later. It's cheap, too, as it's a couple of years old.
Edit: See that you want 4.2

(3,445 posts)You can get an HDMI cable, I've read it works very well.
The rooting is easy. Use CyanogenMod 10.1.3, and it becomes a full-fledged tablet. Nook HD+s start at $149.
I have one and love it!
The Nexus devices support MHL...you need an mhl to hdmi adapter. I think the new Nexus 7 devices use a different adapter called a slimport...you need mhl to hdmi for older nexus 7 devices (pre 2013), and a slimport to hdmi adapter for post 2013...
