PHOTOSHOP QUESTION, please help!

I have CS5 and a Macintosh and I am SO LOST! Need to purchase a guidebook, a la 'for Dummies', but I don't know which to get. There's several that sound right, but I can't tell, and I want to choose the best (easiest) one.

Is Photoshop 5 the same as CS5?

Titles I've found:

•"Photoshop 5 for Macs for Dummies"
•"Photoshop CS5 for Dummies"

Any help would be appreciated. Merci beaucoup!

Photoshop 5 is from 1998, so not the same as CS5. onehandle Jan 2013 #2

$25 for a one month subscription. Many Photoshop tutorials there. My guess is you have CS5 ... don't think Photoshop 5 wouldn't run on a newer Mac.

He has a photoshop book for CS5. His books are so easy to learn with. I have learned more from his books than any of my other photoshop books - definitely the best and easiest. Don't get the photoshop for dummies books - Scotts books are easier to understand and he teaches all the latest techniques too.
I'm about to move on to CS6.

Photoshop is the ne plus ultra of image editors, there's virtually nothing you can't do with it. It's also utterly Byzantine and completely incomprehensible without investing a significant part of one's life in it.

If you aren't a professional photographer or editor, you'll likely be better off with something less powerful and vastly simpler like PS Elements, Picasa, Acorn...search for easy/basic editing software and you'll get tons of options.

I just spent the weekend in a photoshop class and learned a lot, but am still finding my way around too.
