training the spam filter.

so, mac mail's spam filter drives me nuts.
if i rescue any.thing from the junk, it takes a week of retraining, as it seems to go back to loading things that had been being trashed. i hate to have to do it.

but what is driving me TRULY nuts, is that there is one particular daily digest from a google board that i cannot seem to get delivered. every.damned.day, it trashes it. every day, i go fish it out of the trash, and move it to the inbox for that account. it just refuses to recognize that i dont want this thing junked.


does anyone know how to get to manual controls for this?
(it sucks using mac mail, as it is almost impossible to find stuff about it on the google.)

1. Try adding the email address to your address book

That generally works. If you go through Yahoo or Google or whomever, you need to do it to that address book, too.

3. That is the simplest solution and seems to work just fine.

I also keep a "Suspected Spam" folder that I weed through and add addresses as needed. The most vital is the "Politics" folder -- any damned fundraising mail gets dumped in immediately, but they're crafty and keep coming up with new names!

I actually, though, have the opposite problem than the op...I get regular e-mails from, of all places, a body jewelry company i've certainly never order from nor ever had any correspondence with. But no matter how many times I mark it as JUNK, new ones just keep showing up. I do agree, training the filters can be a bit a bit tedious, but well worth it if you have a raining Saturday with nothing else to do.

4. interesting, but

this message does not seem to even have a spam score. it is from a google board to a gmail address. no matter how many times i drag it in and click through, even, it just refuses to learn. funny thing is i belong to another group, and i get those messages just fine. weird.

did add it to my address book as suggested and hope that does it. but interesting that i could probably program my own rules to do the job. this seems a tad dated, but it looks easy enough to do. of course, if i did it that way, i would no doubt have some sort of catastrophic failure that would lose it all.
