the groups on the sidebar here. As a result, I usually go to one of the bigger main groups--unfortunately, it has been more to GD for a while. Someone pointed out this group to me as an alternative place to come to escape the lack of substantive and reasoned discussion over there.

Just wanted to say I'll happily join if no one has any objections.

doesn't go the way of GD anytime soon. This is almost like a separate forum within a forum. The name of the site is Democratic Underground, but it still amazes me that a number of the site's regulars have taken the word of a known Paulite over a president of their own party regarding the NSA non-issue. People now call you an "authoritarian" or an "Obama cheerleader" just for pointing out the rest of the facts about Snowden and the NSA program. As someone pointed out, that Snowden character can't even prove that there is spying going on. So why is he even being taken seriously by what calls itself "the Left"?
