Listening

President Obama listens as he has lunch with five young people at The Coupe restaurant in the Columbia Heights section of Washington, Friday, Jan. 10. The five are spearheading creative outreach efforts to connect with and help enroll young consumers through the Marketplaces or are interested in getting more involved with these efforts. Seated at the table with Obama are, from left, Anne Johnson, Andres Cruz, Obama, Jasmine Hicks, Tommy McFly and David Dimock:

http://theobamadiary.com/2014/01/10/listening/

He not only listens, he hears. For the past five years of his remarkable presidency, he has heard and absorbed the words of the people. He has acted upon them. It has not been an easy job. He has had a group of people that have tried to thwart his every step. Big money, heartbreaking prejudice and unmitigating hate is always trying to stand in his way.

Yet in the end he continues to move forward.

By the People, and for the People, he stands for us.

4. If Obama doesn't listen & he doesn't hear or he wouldn't be trying to institution the TPP!
Sat Jan 11, 2014, 04:26 AM
Jan 2014

The ACA is a distraction and while Republicans were quietly working to give Obama authority to sign global trade pacts on Thursday the media provided cover with a cacophony of ear splitting noise on the Christie bridge bullshit.

The TPP is a Global Corporate take-over and it cuts access to medicines, guts food security & dissolves sovereignty and from there it's gets much worse. It's meant to kill a lot of people because the planet is overloaded... so we have to be sacrificed.

Obama has been working on it for years and Hillary Clinton in one of the architects.

It's not By the People or For the People and Obama stands with Republicans the rich and corporate and he's fast tracking the TPP in secret with Republicans granting him authority.

We better hope Democrats grow a backbone because the minute that monstrosity is signed, we are no long the United States of America, we will be under Obama's New World Order.

Think I'm kidding, read his speeches and Biden's!

6. He seems to listen to all but sometimes

he appears to believe those that are not in the best interests of the people. I can't help but give him the benefit of the doubt because he really does seem to be genuine but he doesn't appear to always be the best judge of character in whom his advisers are.

Of course, I am not privy to all the information he is so maybe it is me that is wrong but I sure don't see the TPP (and a few other issues) the way he has.

Obama seems to think it's a good thing. It regulates international trade (to an extent that's possible).

about the TPP myself, judging from what Ed Shultz and his guests have said about it on his show. But I'll wait and see on this one; Big Ed has steered me wrong before, like how he overreacted after O's 1st debate performance. Plus, all he is is just another cable talking head. He's not someone who is actually behind the scenes in Washington.

11. IMO it's an issue used to stir up discontent

I'm not sure it is the evilest of all evil things, but simply being presented as such - it's detractors never have any actual explanation for all the terrible things they claim will happen because of it. The WH page indicates good things it will bring about. There's no real explanation for that either - though I can see the benefit of attempting to regulate international trade. Is isn't just the "corporations" involved, we all are, as consumers and/or producers. This thinking that American corporations are all evil is a bit silly, since they provides goods and services and jobs - who knows but the TPP doesn't slow down outsourcing? Nobody really seems to know what's in it.

Forum or Group: Barack Obama (Group)

Statement of Purpose
A safe haven for members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies.

This is a group, not a forum. Groups often serve as safe havens for members who share similar interests and viewpoints. Individuals who post messages contrary to a particular group's stated purpose can be excluded from posting in that group

I ask you politely to delete your post from our group.

Thank you for you consideration to our Group.

PS~ You say ACA is a distraction? Really? Affordable healthcare for millions is just a distraction. Saving the lives of millions, access to preventative care and no longer allowing a prexisting condition to make you uninsurable, is just a distraction? Wow!

as requested - and for obvious good reasons - I wouldn't make book on how long it stays up anyway. Repeat offenders have a way of getting themselves banned, too. Our group, our rules. You'd do the same with your own, and you know it.

I recognized the restaurant immediately. A wonderful, culturally diverse, revitalized DC neighborhood. Good on the President for visiting there.
