"This is foreign policy the Obama way."

"In a 90-minute phone call with President Putin of Russia, President Obama urged “an immediate effort to initiate a dialogue between Russia and the Ukrainian government, with international facilitation,” and offered participation by the United States. He also called on Russia to 'de-escalate tensions by withdrawing its forces back to bases in Crimea and to refrain from any interference elsewhere in Ukraine.'”

"Talk First. Be Calm. Facilitate Discussion of Differences."

But that's...that's just plain old commonsense and diplomacy! What's he thinking! Thanks Obama!

Thanks Bsister! Good find.

it is weird that we aren't shooting first and asking questions later. It is nice for a change.

Talking first. Being calm. Only wimps and wusses do that! At least under Bush ll, he was a true 'Murican President and kept things fun and had some wars going. He wasn't afraid to let the turrists know what's up!

a self-destructive mood........ At any rate, I watched Afred E Newman's twin, David Gregory salivating at the thought of a possible war. The way he grilled Kerry was an embarrassment to him and MSNBC. It was so infantile, watching him, begging him for a morsel, a whiff of war. I wanted to jump through the screen and grab him by the throat and say right into his face, "AS IF......"! "You wish, you *$^&@# grimy @%&&$@ war monger.....!! What a POS puppet for the right, he is...........

Others from the right, their hyperbole puking from their mouths as if military involvement will probably happen, because Obama drew another line in the sand........ Give me a break! There is much that can be done to Russia, in the way of sanctions. They would prove worse. But they jump right into their wishful thinking and dreams of money filling their pockets and more reasons to hate.... the stuff of life that gives meaning to their shallow lives and what they survive on.

So whatever... It's not going to happen as long as our POTUS is in charge. Thank God or whomever you choose to thank. So the right can salivate all they want, and push the MSM to give us the idea it may happen, it just isn't.

Unless Putin (who is certifiable) , does something really extreme, severely extreme, we are NOT going to war.

I have faith in President Obama on this. And in Kerry. It is a tense time and Putin is a loose cannon, for sure. But when I think of how Romney or Bush would have handled this narcissistic, Napoleonic guy, I know, beyond a doubt, we'd be getting annihilated in a war with Russia by now and possibly China and S. Korea joining in at some point. They all hate us so much.
Maybe if we didn't exude such a snobby, "entitlement to be exceptional", aura, maybe they wouldn't so much. But that's another topic.

It's nice to feel secure in our leaders on this issue. This trumps any disappointment w/Obama, I may have. And he still has over 2 1/2 years to change other policies, that I have personal interests in. And, I have to remind myself continually that our POTUS is, one-sly-dog.... (Think CPI/ SS & Syria & Iran & more)

And I adore him for it.

BOG It's nice to know that I am not going to be attacked here for my views about our POTUS.

So is the one here, included in the FB one:
I love what Sarah Jones says here:

"Contrast Obama’s talk with Putin with the way John McCain pushed for an escalation with Russia today. McCain’s bomb-bomb-bomb stance reflects the neocons of his party, the war hawks, who even as they beat the war drums against Russia, voted against veterans’ benefits.

War is expensive, and not just in money and resources, but in lives. War is not to be entered into lightly. War is a last resort, not the go-to first response.

Republicans call Obama weak and say he is not drawing a firm line with Russia. They want him to spell his threats out (the opposite of diplomacy, by the way). They pretend foreign policy is static, when in fact it’s dynamic. Republicans want him to be a blundering cowboy. Instead, what we have here is a man of deep thought, who speaks softly, and carries a big stick.

Osama bin Laden could tell Republicans that, but he’s gone now. Taken out at an order by President Obama. "

as well as the best POTUS we ever had or could hope for. Thanks to him and others like Kerry etc., I had the emotional capacity to deal with my own personal problems (weather related) this weekend instead of fainting on the floor. Went to sleep calm as a lamb, knowing our nation's in safe hands. What a priceless gift.

BTW, I hope everyone noticed how the ruble's tanking already.
