Woman sues restaurant for $100,000 after husband makes her dine alone on Valentine's Day

Bad service at a restaurant? Most patrons would stop giving the establishment their business, or perhaps leave a negative review on Yelp.

Not Kathleen Hampton. After experiencing what she says was poor service at an Italian restaurant in Portland, Oregon, she's filed a lawsuit for $100,000.

As first reported by Oregon Live, Hampton says she and her husband made reservations to eat at Enzo’s Caffe Italiano on Valentine's Day. At the last minute, her husband decided not to join her because, she writes in the suit, "he was still full from lunch." So she decided to attend by herself.

She sat alone at the table for two, amid what local news station KOIN 6 reports was a busy Valentine's Day crowd, but says no one would take her order. Instead, she says, she was asked to give up the table.

It is hard to know who was wrong, but if they tried to make her leave the table and eat at the bar - well, I, who eats alone a lot, would not be happy either. I am never thrilled when people borrow the other chair, even though I am not using it or need it, I always let it go, but it bothers me a bit.
Hey, some times you are made to feel like something is wrong when you eat alone - sorry I am getting older and many of my friends won't or can't eat out, many have died, other are confined to their houses, many others have trouble walking or are embarrassed about their ailments. So I go out alone. Ignoring you for service is not that rare. I frequently have to flag down people for service, that is why I like to be a regular at small family restaurants when I can, where they know you and are kind. But I like trying out new restaurants as well.
