Greek soccer player gets lifetime ban after celebrating a goal with a Nazi salute

Heil halfwit: Greek soccer player gets lifetime ban after Nazi salute

Soccer players have all sorts of wacky goal celebrations, but a Greek soccer player is in disgrace after throwing a Nazi salute after he scored during a league match. Giorgos Katidis, a former captain of the Greek national youth team, has been banned from representing his country for life. The Greek soccer federation called it "a severe provocation" that insulted "all the victims of Nazi bestiality," referring to Greece's occupation by Nazis during World War II. The young player is pleading ignorance, tweeting, "I am not a fascist and would not have done it if I had known what it meant." Honest mistake? Hmmm. It’s only the most famous political gesture in modern history. [Source]
