Things Not To Flush Down Toilet: $22K Diamond Engagement Ring
A $22k ring down the toilet sounds like a new bachelor's lament, but it's actually the story of an unlucky-then-really-lucky Virginia woman after she accidentally flushed her $22k ring down the toilet at a home in Hampton, Virginia.
The frazzled flusher then contacted a local sanitation company who, after days of pumping raw sewage from the home's sewer system, were able to recover the $22k ring that went down the toilet. The story provided fodder for a little early morning fun on the "Today" show. Take a look:
Fortunately, the $22k ring down the toilet took only a few days to recover. That's nothing compared to the story of Terry and Donna Claver of Stanford, Montana who recovered an engagement ring that was lost in a toilet for 36 years.
"I remember putting it on the back of the toilet to put lotion on," Donna Claver told The Billings Gazette. "I saw it slip toward the toilet bowl, and I went to grab it, but I missed and it fell in. It went right down into the little hole at the bottom of the toilet. I could put my finger in that hole and feel it with the tip of my finger, but it was wedged in tight."
