Webster Lucas headed to a McDonald's in Pacoima, California, on jan. 29, 2014, and ordered a Quarter Pounder Deluxe. He had no problem with the food itself, but says that he got only one napkin in his bag.
Upon going to the counter to ask for more, Lucas claims the McDonald's manager would not give him any more napkins because he had already been given some.
Lucas, obviously enough, was unhappy and let it be known:

In that instance, I'd accidentally spill my drink and leave without any apology or remorse. The additional labor to clean up the mess and loss of good will certainly cost more than a couple of pennies that would make the customer happy and return back to that franchise.

(23,980 posts)Seems weird to deny someone an extra napkin.
Seems even weirder to sue just because of that.

(6,665 posts)Or would that be a city ordinance? Aren't they considering a ban on plastic grocery bags in many California communities? Limiting the number of paper napkins would be a similar step. And they could encourage the public to carry reusable cloth handkerchiefs as they do with reusable bags in stores. McDonalds could lead the way by being the first to sell reusable cloth napkins with its own logo.
