Obese Wichita woman dies after being left on floor for days — or weeks
Wichita police on Thursday said a “morbidly obese” woman was so heavy that when she fell off her couch family members left her on the floor for days — perhaps even weeks — before calling 911.
The 54-year-old woman later died at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, a police report states.
Police were notified of the incident by SRS on Wednesday. The woman lived with her mother and brother in the 200 block of South Parkwood Lane, southwest of Douglas and Edgemoor in east Wichita.
A police report on the case states after the woman fell from the couch, her mother and brother tried to lift her up but could not.
Neither the mother nor the brother called EMS for help until “three days to three weeks” had passed, the report states. The woman remained on the floor, where she was fed.
