Students offered degree course in Wasting time on the internet
Cat videos, status updates, chat apps, online shopping, websites and blogs the internet is certainly a serial procrastinators dream, but as of 2015 its also the subject of serious academic inquiry.
The art of aimless web surfing has become the focus of a new degree-level course at the University of Pennsylvania.
Wasting time on the internet will be offered by the Department of English to English majors and students on the English Creative Writing track from 2015.
According to the course description students will be required to stare at the screen for three hours, only interacting through chat rooms, bots and social media. As if that isn't alluring enough, prospective candidates are also promised that aimless drifting is mandatory.
