Promising to not support the democratic party nominee if that person is Hillary.
What is wrong with this picture on the Democratic Underground?

(40,416 posts)Because some people here are cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. They have forgotten what Democratic Underground is about. They think that this is WhateverIWantToday Underground.
Unfortunately that does not work so well in the real world.
I will support and work for whoever gets the 2016 POTUS nomination for the Democratic Party. Yes, I have a preference, but I would prefer not to announce it here, in this utterly childish, toxic environment.

(15,438 posts)win as a write-in candidate?? Sheesh. All you'll be doing is having another attempt at splitting the Democratic vote. The Democratic Party and Democrats will not take kindly to that. However, the Republican candidate would welcome such an act.

(10,907 posts)I would vote for a Democrat in the next election if, for example, I felt the Democrat was clearly for a woman's right to choose (vs. the RepubliCONS who are all opposed). If that was the only difference between the Democrat and the RepubliCON, I would vote for the Democrat.
Similarly for Supreme Court nominees -- I'd vote for a Democrat who was likely to nominate a Ginsberg / Breyer / Sotomayor / Kagan over a RepubliCON likely to nominate a Scalia or an Alito etc.
Similarly for healthcare - I'd vote for the Democrat if (s)he was better on that issue. It is so tragic reading about those with serious medical conditions in red states that refused to take the virtually free (to the states) Medicare expansion.
That's only 3 of many many issues that clearly divide virtually all Democrats from just about every RepubliCON.
No way I will throw my vote away in a general election on someone polling, say 5%, with no chance of winning. No way. Especially on an egotistical clown like in 2000 as so many did. The plight of pregnant women with no good alternatives or desperate ill people without medical care is far more important to me than ideological purity.

(83,758 posts)First of all, you are posting in the Hillary Group as you well know. You seem to feel you have a superior right to post your ....polite way to say it is your opinions. Not what I had in mind it will do for now.
You want to know why The Hillary Group doesn't get so many recs? You really need to ask that question? You have run us off this board with your hate. See ya! You are not welcome in this group and never will be.

(27,814 posts)... what is wrong with DemocraticUnderground in that it allows such posts to stand?
The TOS, which set out the rules by which this site was supposedly governed, has been thrown out the window. The joke of a "jury system" now prevails.
RW trolls, who were once immediately banned, are now free to post anti-Democratic bullshit sourced from RW sites.
Democrats who support the Democratic president on DemocraticUnderground have been under the bus since he took office. Democrats who now support the Party's front-runner, HRC, are now under that same bus.
Is it any wonder that OPs/posts urging Democrats to NOT vote for the Democratic nominee in next November's election are not only permitted, but wind up on the Greatest Page (and, as a result, on the Home Page) of a site that still holds itself out as a Democratic website - despite all evidence to the contrary?
If the Admins want to allow DU to be an anti-Democratic site, that's their prerogative. But they should at least change the site's name so that actual Democrats aren't misled into thinking that this place is at all reflective of the Party and its members.
Imagine being a Democrat who finds this site for the first time and, hoping to find information about the upcoming election, is met with "DON'T VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRAT IF IT'S HRC!"
Nice job, DU. Really well done.

(14,834 posts)So many Democrats (myself included) propping up Trump to win the R nomination.
So many Republicans (many in my family) propping up Sanders to win the D nomination.
Why do you suppose that is?
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)Calling this place Democratic Underground is false advertising when you have massive pile on posts that get 100 plus recs, slamming the democratic party and its leading candidates while poster after poster promises to never vote for anyone but their non-democratic party candidate.
Actual democrats have to post in fear around here because of the joke jury system that's packed with Bernie supporters.
Wait until the actual voting starts in the primaries and Hillary wins. Do you think the non democratic party groups that control this board are just going to walk away?
I'm sure they will increase the attacks on Hillary a millionfold and press Bernie to make a third party run. You know that's gonna happen, right?
How Bernie will respond, I do not know but they will be on him like they all were on Sen. Warren, not taking no for an answer.
And what will the owners of the board do about that seeing as how they have all ready given up this so called democratic party board to anyone with a big enough mob to swamp the jury system and take it over?
They should really rename this board Third Party Underground, at least it would be accurate!

(24,329 posts)When you don't support my candidate who wins the nomination you're a whiner and a bad person
When I don't support your candidate who wins the nomination I am a person of principle
That's how that works with people like that
Rest assured, if the republican wins, they'll be here crying about the new SCOTUS nominee or law that has been passed

(30,740 posts)But I have decided that when my star expires, that is it. I will not be giving any more money until this place actually becomes the DEMOCRATIC Underground again.
Given the current laissez-faire attitude of TBTB, will they enforce the TOS after the primaries?
There are a lot of people who would like to see this site go down in flames. Will it?
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)That's a damn good question. I seriously have my doubts that they will.
The TOS is sure as hell is not in effect now.

(42,329 posts)And yet they claim, with no evidence, that HRC supporters won't support another nominee.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)Now, that may not be true. But I don't think it's going to effect the election very much unless they actively go out and try to convince others to do the same.
I live in a solidly Blue state so it's my business whether or not I vote for Bernie Sanders in the unlikely event that he wins the nomination. But I certainly wouldn't come on a Democratic site and encourage anyone not to vote for him, and he isn't even a Democrat.

(27,995 posts)I can't understand how any Democratic wouldn't vote for our nominee.

(12,448 posts)...there have been too many posts like the one cited. I remember, years ago, when that post and others like it would be immediately deleted. The so-called jury system we have now just makes things up as they go along, letting their personal biases lead their so-called "judgments."
I finally made up my mind to support Hillary, but I will definitely vote for Bernie or any other Democrat who wins the nomination. Not doing so is a vote for one of the clowns in the car.

(2,577 posts)WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING??? Better yet--ARE YOU THINKING????
This Democrat and Hillary supporter WILL be busting butt in 2016 to get THE DEMOCRAT ELECTED. Anything else is just moronic. I still haven't forgiven all the fools who "voted their conscience" in 2000. Hope their conscience enjoyed Iraq and Enron and the Roberts court and the rest of the appalling disaster that was the reign of Dubya and Darth Vader.
