Really Senator Sanders? How can you say that groups like @PPact and @HRC are part of the "establishment" you're taking on? -H

This would be a stunning cap in the feather of the anti-choice camp. This will effectively neuter Roe, something even Republican Congresses and presidents have not yet been able to achieve.
Effectively, under Bernie's plan, affordable access to abortion for poor women would end, achieving an important policy goal of right wing religious extremists.

(32,611 posts)just poor legislative craft. Now I realize it is deliberate. He has issues.

(32,342 posts)Or something. I honestly find many of his views to be very retrograde. I posted a few days ago I think that calls for universal healthcare without also supporting women's rights would get us what they have in places like Northern Ireland. Looks like I was right.

(50,567 posts)"If we raise the minimum wage, the economy will create so many new jobs that everyone will need to have two" is just as speculative, if not MORE speculative, than "if we cut taxes it will kick the economy into high gear."
No, kids. As with Bernie's "if we just soak the rich, everyone will be able to go to the doctor and never pay a cent" healthcare plan, Bernie's "double the minimum wage in just four years" plan treads into terrain never before entered. If I was running a shop that paid 20 workers $10 an hour, and Bernie suddenly said "ya gotta pay 'em fifteen," I would have two choices, neither good: either fire seven people until business improved enough to justify paying 50 percent more (it would be even higher because of his healthcare tax, but that's higher math and it's midnight) or raise prices enough to cover my new costs, and watch half my customers vanish. Nowhere in the history of the world has the minimum wage ever been doubled in one fell swoop.

(1,053 posts)I think I've finally reached the point where the respect I had for Bernie
(which was considerable in the beginning) is completely tapped out.
Just another old, angry, white man.
