Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumBest wishes to all DU Clinton supporters
Just wanted to express my support of all DUers who support the talented Senator/Secretary of State for President.
The rabid daily over the top hatred that is now being aimed at her in GD doesn't match the affection and admiration I find among Democrats I meet in the real world who, even if they don't necessarily support her for the nomination as their first choice, understand the contributions she has made on a whole range of issues including fighting for Women's Rights to Universal Health Care.
The over the top-intense-persistent antagonism against Mrs. Clinton speaks more about those that post than it does Mrs. Clinton.
For those that question how deep the regard for Mrs. Clinton is in the real world you simply have to look at the lack of any top tier candidate likely to challenge her if she decides to seek the nomination.
I have my 'retirement' cabin located in Thailand a few blocks away from the Burmese border. What she has accomplished in cementing a peaceful transition is a stunning achievement, way beyond what we had any reason to expect. If it continues it will save tens of thousands that would have been at risk in an armed conflict, which would have been at least as bloody as Syria.
For people who want to know what Secretary of State Clinton did I suggest that they contact Aung San Suu Kyi who emerged after 15 years of prison and house arrest to lead her party to win 43 out of 45 vacant seats in the last election and has announced that she is a candidate for Presidential elections in 2015. She will be able to fill in some details of the work of this great American.

(17,528 posts)They look a gift horse in the mouth. I can't believe so many Dems on DU are anti-Hillary! Fools!

(6,151 posts)But I'm far more concerned about gaining enough traction to get things done, and we won't see that with a scattergun approach. Big tent's one thing; self indulgence another. I want someone who CAN and will kick GOP butt and make the whole world a lot safer for the rest of us. She's the most incredible woman I've ever known of as a political leader and worlds above her enemies. Wise as an owl, tough as any bird of prey out there. I'd feel safe and cared for under her wing. And let's face it, the world's a dangerous enough place.

I even liked the old Hillary nutcracker even though it wasn't intended as a compliment. Still made me want to jump up and down and cheer!

(4,713 posts)It expresses many of our views as a poster who has only been here since the spring time I have found that even if we want to express opinions such as this it can become a very ugly quickly.

(6,151 posts)Of course online I can carefully avoid threads titled in such a manner as to reveal their intent; but that doesn't change my support for her. I want her to run and then turn the office over to Van Jones next. I MUST live long enough to see that.

(17,528 posts)I've always loved her too. got so bad around here in 2008 I had to leave for a year or two. Couldn't stand the Hillary hate. Joined a Hillary group called PUMAS. Now all those Obama supporters are against him and now I love Obama.

(6,151 posts)I admit that in candidates our party has an embarrassment of riches to choose from, but those are two of my favorites. During the primaries I was so torn between the two. Only time in my life I had no idea which way my vote would go.
So get ready for the screamers and pearl clutchers in '16, but I honestly believe that barring unforseeable circumstance, she will indeed run again, probably with President Obama's endorsement. Even if I didn't love her for other reasons, I'd still support her as the '16 candidate most likely to win. Some gripers might prefer to sit home and whine about what THEY consider ideological purity, but that's juvenile at best. I think in '16 they'll see what toughness really is. Barack's the only man I can even imagine possibly besting her, and if he's ON her side, well everybody else better run for cover.

(30,739 posts)There are still a few people here who I find hard to interact with. I try to be cordial, but it is not easy to forget some of the snark. IRL I am an activist, and NEVER saw anyone behave like that, when one person supported Hillary and the other supported Obama. I often saw them sit together and share a meal at Democratic fundraisers. Everyone was quite cordial.
There were some people here, probably political novices, who had a list of every DUer they could find who had joined PUMAS. I never did join. But a small group did their best to drive people away from DU or have them banned if they expressed any support for Hillary. Before the primary, we are allowed to support any Democrat we please!

(41,832 posts)and that is what it is really. Too many are so politically naive and unrealistic.
I like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders and I like them in the SENATE. However, there is no way either will be the Democratic candidate.
Well, Bernie for sure since he isn't a Democrat! Interestingly, I just learned that Warren was a Republican into her mid-forties.
Too many on DU live in their bubble just like the right-wing nuts do. The vast majority of Democrats do support Hillary.
Not only Democrats, but in my own little circle, even some more moderate Republican women want her.
People shouldn't discount the over-fifty female voters either. Sure, one should not vote based on gender alone, but I'm telling you... older women LOVE Hillary, and older women vote!

(17,528 posts)I was so disappointed when Hillary lose in 08 and we lost on a women president. Now we finally have the opportunity again...and many on DU want to blow it.
I soon learned to love Obama and still do.

(30,739 posts)being very snarky to me when I openly supported Hillary in the last election. I had you on ignore for quite a while.
Were you one of the people who mass-alerted on me and tried to get me banned from DU?
