Update on organizing meeting I attended

I'd posted the other day about the Montgomery County Democratic Party's (OH) first Hillary meeting. It was a modest turnout which in part was due to lack of notification time. I got an email a few days in advance for Columbus (hour away) and did not get anything official until this morning for Dayton. Two local elected officials were in attendance (county treasurer and engineer). Seems other officials got too late of a notice also.

Jay Plant, who will be the official Clinton organizer for Ohio, was there and after a brief introduction from Jay and then us he proceeded to cover several things the Clinton campaign is looking for from volunteers:

Online presence

- Encouraging everyone to like/join her official Facebook/Twitter page

- Encouraging people to like the official Facebook page that the Clinton campaign started - The Briefing. They will be using that page to combat media misrepresentations/falsehoods about Hillary.

Locally

- Finding out who is willing to host house parties (similar to what Ready for Hillary did)

- Who will volunteer at various local events to get people registered to vote and also get them signed up for Hillary (again, what Ready for Hillary did). In Dayton, our next big event is the Gay Pride parade on June 6th.

- getting feedback on who is willing to go door to door, make calls, be a team leader, etc.

Jay said that the Clinton campaign will focus on four areas

1) Building the economy of tomorrow

2) Strengthening families and communities

3) Fixing money in politics (Citizens United)

4) Keeping us safe at home and abroad

Looking forward to our next meeting and being put to work to get her elected
