Hillary Clinton Room-A bit of Meta and a warning for Hillary supporters on DU.

HILLARY CLINTON ROOM POST

As you know it is not easy being a Clinton supporter on DU and we are clearly in the minority among the active posters on DU. Unfortunately in the past few months are numbers have gotten smaller because of members getting 5 hide vacations and people leaving DU because it has gotten too nasty. No one side is completely innocent or guilty because we all have our faults.

Having said that i would like to remind Hillary supporters that there are members here that are baiting you and want to get your posts hidden. We all know the usual suspects that do this so there is no need to mention names and risk hidden posts here. Please consider putting some of these posters on ignore if you get hidden posts from time to time when dealing with them.

Now that I am on Mirt and forum hosting I get a fuller picture of how things go down in GD and other forums.

I see several on our side getting frustrated with certain posters and posting about it and then getting hidden posts and getting flagged or 5 hide vacations.

Remember that they outnumber us and if you start insulting by name the more prominent Anti-Hillary posters there friends will alert and your posts will be hidden. This is how it is.

You must be calm, cool, and collected when dealing with those who disagree with you on Hillary. Remember that most people here have honest opinions and all have feelings. Remember they are our brothers and sisters in the fight to make our nation to be a better place.

Stand up for Hillary and do it vigorously but also remember to be cautious when dealing with certain posters. Be clever but be cautious.

When responding to this do not mention posters by nsme because peopls are always looking to alert.

And

DU has a lot of tolerance for foul language and general bad behavior, but not when it is directed at a specific person or a protected group.

You can be very effective in responding to jackasses through ridicule rather than insults and through general implications rather than targeted slams.

And, yes, the drumbeat for "Not Hillary" is loud and monotonous, but it's going to get worse. God help us if she gets elected.

like a good idea to me. If you have them on Ignore you don't get to serve on a jury for their posts. This diminishes us further.

A little self-discipline seems a better solution. Also, stay out of their nasty threads so you increase the chance you will be called to jury.

A another reminder to HRC supporters: Update your Jury Blacklist.

I just checked my list and can not update because I don't have a Star and the reason I don't have a Star at this time is because of the pig problem mentioned above. However, my old list dovetails nicely with HRC bashers.

7. What I have been doing...

May 2015

...is not defending Hillary for the most part (pointless when dealing with dittoheads, of a sort) and not attacking other declared or undeclared candidates. I rarely attack Democrats anyway, so that's easy.

We are still months away from debates and I will not play into the hands of the right-wing by letting negativity tear down our base. We're in the building phase or the game of elections, not the game play itself.

Mostly, I post positive news items and photos about Hillary, and walk away. The things I post are not for their eyes anyway.

I called out one of them over the weekend for adding an unrelated cherry picked unflattering photo of Hillary to a post, that ended up being linked to a right-wing writer. They would not budge until one of their own suggested deleting the thread, which they did.

Let them do Fox News' job for them. I will not.

of how to deal and interact with the anti-Hillary baiters.

You know I know exactly how you feel.. as President Obama supporters are in the same unique boat. We have an exceptionally fine, accomplished President.. and he has beautiful supporters on DU, including yourself.. but, seemingly the majority don't know enough beyond.. "he's a trojan horse"

There really is a fine art to getting across what you want to say without getting a hide. And, sometimes we just say "Bucket" it.. that's when you really have to keep editing until you get it right! lol

The darn real world keeps getting in the way.

I have yet to get a hide on DU but I normally do not confront people on DU (that is saved for another board). I am now engaging more on this DU and so better think about my jury blacklist.

I've become quite discouraged about the venomous attacks on both Obama and HRC ... I've had a couple of alerts, but no hides, so there's that. Mostly I am worried about a couple of my DU friends who have a hard time walking away from fighting words addressed to themselves (you know who you are ) and I just do not want to see such valuable members of this board goaded into exile.

I've started trashing threads and have put a handful of posters on Ignore. Thanks for the advice about the Jury blacklist -- I never used that feature before.

I just ran across a thread in which a poster stated he was withdrawing his support from Senator Sanders. You can imagine the responses, but one of the faithful told the poster that "if Bernie was truly in your heart" he'd stay with Sanders even if the Senator's proposed legislation damaged him financially.

WHAT THE HELL HAVE WE GOT HERE? IS IT A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN OR A FREAKIN'.TENT REVIVAL?

Sorry about that. I feel better now.

On the way here I stopped by the Pets Group to see the new baby clouded leopards. Guaranteed to lower blood pressure and induce an endorphin cascade.

I don't mind when they are aimed at me, I can handle it. But it certainly is causing an intimidating atmosphere. I'm sure there are many HRC supporters who do not speak their mind, because of it. But that's the game plan, I'm sure.
