A little seceret I want to share with my Clinton friends.

Tampa moves to join cities decriminalizing pot possession -

“What the country and certainly mayors have realized is incarcerating people, particularly young people, for a very small amount of marijuana absolutely alters their career path for the rest of their life,” said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Once they get into that prison system, they are forever scarred; they forever have a prison record.”

I was part of a group that played a role in making this happen. This group has been working the Tampa City Council, other lobby groups, and local police/sheriffs departments for years. I have been on board for around a year. We are also working hard for the same outcome in Pinellas County.

This issue disproportionately hurts AA's in our area. Winning in Pinellas would be just as big as so many in St. Pete are not given a fair opportunity.

I was recently at a reggae festival in our area. It attracts a wide range of people. The people I was with, all Caucasian, smoked openly in the crowd. Something a person of color would not have even attempted. That is well understood around here. If an officer passed by, we would be given a dirty look and simply held it down for a minute. AA's know if they are seen, it is used as a method to find out "what they are really doing wrong." And this is an area where I consider the PD to be a little more friendly than most with some really positive outreach programs as of late.

In my opinion, this is something we as Clinton supporters really need to work on. It is major and I'm proud to have been a part of this. This is what I'm telling you I'm doing today and the actions we take today matter a great deal.

Thanks for listening to my little secret. I'm pretty proud of the small role I played. We have work to do in our party. Both local and national. Never settle.

Pot laws are the next laws to go as far as I'm concerned. Like gay marriage rights,it will start in states and gain acceptance throughout the country. Thanks for being part of it.

Thanks for your work!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in the 100th monkey theory even though it is not used anymore. Once you get a critical amount it takes over the whole.

The hundredth monkey effect is a purported phenomenon in which a new behavior or idea is claimed to spread rapidly by unexplained means from one group to all related groups once a critical number of members of one group exhibit the new behavior or acknowledge the new idea.

but I think it a way in which the new thing becomes the new normal. The way the gestalt of a people or a time changes. Once something changes it is hard to regress to go backwards. It becomes unthinkable. Some people still fight it but their cries/yells fade into the past until they disappear. And the rest move on.

I heard such nutty bs from some of my friends about what the bad consequences was going to be when Oregon legalized pot. There wasn't even a blip.

And that is so true about reggae concerts! I went to one in Long Beach, California, that was indoors (bad idea) and the pot smoke got so thick you could barely see the stage. Lots of white people. No arrests. Hmmm.
