It's gotten so bad that people have made mash-ups about it.

He's very rude at these things--he can't stand still and listen, like she does. He has to wave that finger and make little unnnh and ahhhh noises WHILE she is speaking.

When people put together stuff like this, it's noticeable:

Sanders' did in fact continually interrupt.

Sanders is a reflection of his supporters, and it is exemplified on DU more than anywhere else

they all interrupt, they have to. Or the others would hog the floor and people would be wondering why they didn't do anything.

I think that's the only landslide he'll enjoy, though...

That graph is telling for another reason, too--it is obvious that all save Chaffee felt quite free to play the "Men are talking" card with HRC. She gets stomped on way more than the others.

I hope you take my comment with the full measure of with which I offer it.

Truth to tell, this kind of conduct appalls me. I find it so off-putting that I lose all respect for anyone who engages in it. And the finger in the air is like a non-verbal "SHUSH! SILENCE! STOP TALKING!" When accompanied by those snicks and ticks and ummms, and harrumphs, it is infuriating and so disrespectful.

I really would love it if they just lowered a big curtain over the person who ISN'T talking--AND turned off the microphone, for good measure, so we wouldn't have to listen to those little "interjection" sounds.

I don't understand how people can ignore it, either--it's GLARING to me.

They can quit with that one now. These days, you have to interrupt. It is not rude. The rude thing is hogging the floor.

And of course, there's this classic bit making fun of his hand waving:

I MIGHT have endured that if he didn't mutter, make faces and put his finger up to the moderators every time SHE spoke -- with the camera people faithfully going to a full frame to get them BOTH in, not just her -- on HER TIME.

But how dare SHE try to get a word in edgewise while he's repeating the same thing over and again...

I don't dislike Sanders... But I dislike double standards.... A LOT.

Are as much interruptions as verbal interruptions. Any teacher, professor, or speaker can tell you this! So Bernie fans, stop your own finger pointing and own up to the fact that your candidate is an angry, finger-pointing, hand-waving, one-issue sputtering man who doesn't have the experience, grace or class to be the Democratic nominee!

and "eye rolling" at GWB? They treated it like it was the crime of the century, and his conduct was far less distracting than that damn finger twirling.

I just do not understand why Sanders didn't get the same treatment for that "Unnnh-unnnh-UNNNNNH" and tongue clicking and finger wagging.

It was EXTREMELY distracting and blatantly disrespectful.

If they debate again, I hope she asks him to stop clicking his tongue, tut-tutting, and wagging and waving that damn finger, and wait his turn.

A few sighs and half-eyerolls was totally the crime of the century, but that was NOTHING compared to the eccentric performances of The Bernie Show.
