http://www.democraticunderground.com/1280172306#topI even posted the information that there is a primary on September 13. http://www.elections.ny.gov/VotingDeadlines.html
But they have ignored the facts and still gong on about how "dirty tricks' are being played by the Democratic Party.
Update: I have now been blocked from the Bernie Sanders Group. I guess that's their right. And then they responded to my posts by doubling down on the conspiracy theory. .

Uh Oh, Bernie Sanders Campaign Being Very Naughty In Nevada
That is not good. For Bernie staffers to deceive union workers by basically COSPLAYING AS THEM is highly, highly OMG HIGHLY unethical, under any circumstances, and the union is NOT happy about it at all:"

(27,813 posts)They managed to hide a post in this group comparing Trump and Sanders rallies. How is that allowed for a protected group? It was a fairly thoughtful post.

(15,369 posts)voting processes that some SBS supporters display is phenomenal. And frightening.
Don't public schools teach civics any more? In my elementary school days (the 50s), we knew more about our government by sixth grade than most of these millennials seem to know when they are of voting age.
Or is this just another result of "No Child Left Behind?" Or home schooling? If so, we are in BIG Trouble.

I never learned anything about voting in grade school and not in high-school either. I took one gov class in highschool, but it was so watered down and mind-numbing that I only ever once read a chapter. The teacher honestly went over every single question in a class game the day before the test and that was where I learned the answers... It was a pretty pointless waste of everybody's time. (for context, I'm just over 30.) I felt robbed after highschool.
(That said, I do respect that teachers are working in a hard environment and are doing there best.)

(15,369 posts)these days, I occasionally teach (as an adjunct prof) courses in business and law at a small private university abroad. One course I occasionally teach is in Comparative Politics. There we study the US (and other) presidential systems along with different types of parliamentary systems. We even examine some "authoritarian" systems. The course is not intended to make judgments, just to point out the current structures and processes and why they have evolved - and continue to evolve - as they have.
In many ways, the US has one of the most complex "democratic" systems in existence - a federal system that overlays and can on occasion supersede fifty state systems, each with its own idiosyncrasies. Because of our vast territory, resources, and impact on the world generally, people really pay attention to our processes and often have a better general understanding than many US citizens seem to. It is certainly worth at least a term's study in itself. Done right, it can be fascinating.
Trying to get even the most superficial of ideas across - which is all we can do in one term at the undergraduate level - is quite challenging. But the students, who have a variety of international backgrounds themselves, generally find the study fascinating (it is!) and grasp the most rudimentary of concepts well.
It is a shame that we cannot make these concepts more exciting, understandable and accessible to our own citizenry. And yes, I understand the incredible challenges that US teachers face on a daily basis. Teaching was one of my first career incarnations and I spent many years teaching at the secondary level (both here and abroad) before moving into business and legal areas. We are also quite cheated by our version of a free press, which does less to educate and inform than to promote storylines that will bring in revenue.
By the way, the John Green "Crash Course" videos on World History and US History are entertaining and fun to watch. US History: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dPuuaLjXtMwmepBjTSG593eG7ObzO7s and World History: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBDA2E52FB1EF80C9
One can even now fill in a lot of educational (and some political) gaps just by viewing these.

(718 posts)at the quality. I self-educated after highschool because I felt robbed. Then I went to university as a first generation college student.
The problem isn't that the subject is unpalatable. The problem is that the standards are too low.

(15,369 posts)Congratulations on being an autodidact! You shouldn't have had to be.
But it takes a LOT of courage and perseverance to do that and to go on to university afterwards, especially when you had no role model in your immediate family. Good for you! I hope that you have had and will continue to have the success you deserve!

(718 posts)I'm really glad all of you professors, officially retired or not, do what you do, and I really am grateful to teachers at every level for what you all do.
You're going to make me blush, thanks...

...have separate Presidential and State/Local primaries.
In CT, if someone wants to primary Senator Richard Blumenthal, it will take place on August 9.
Freaking ignorant, all of them.

They use that word a lot at godlikeproductions (GLP) forums. GLP and GPD may as well be the same place these days.
